Sand is the most commonly used material for creating working areas. To prevent excessive erosion by horses, a stabilizing ground grid should be placed under the sand layer. These grids can be filled with sand or gravel to prevent holes or puddles from forming in the paddock, in uncovered drying circles and even in the pens.

The Hippotrack grids we offer are 4 cm deep honeycomb panels. They stabilize the ground if it is not very firm. They are first filled with gravel to ensure good drainage, then covered with a layer of sand or wood chips about 15 cm thick to provide a good surface for the horses' hooves.
It must be laid on compacted soil and a layer of gravel/gravel.
